Whether it is lineman training at Clackamas Community for linemen at Portland General Electric (which is also located in Wilsonville), or the Certified Medical Assistant program at Pioneer, or a Bachelor’s of Science from OIT, the local higher education institutions shift programs to meet business needs.
Oregon Institute of Technology (http://www.oit.edu), the state’s premier university of advanced engineering and technology is consolidating four Portland-area campuses to one campus in Wilsonville. The new campus, expected to be completed in 2012, will be in the heart of Wilsonville’s high tech center, near Mentor Graphics, Rockwell Collins and FLIR.
The Wilsonville campus of OIT will focus on electronics, medical, renewable energy and software engineering programs and information technology. In 2005, Oregon Tech furthered its commitment to sustainable power by introducing the first Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Systems in North America (now known as Renewable Energy Engineering). Oregon Tech’s renewable energy program establishes the engineering principles graduates will need to develop, promote, and implement sustainable energy technologies.
Clackamas Community College (http://depts.clackamas.edu/wilsonville/) has a Wilsonville campus focused on electrical utility training in conjunction with Portland General Electric and PacifCorp. Customized training classes for area businesses can be provided at the Wilsonville campus or at an employer’s industrial site. The main Clackamas Community College campus is located approximately 15 miles away in Oregon City, the county seat for Clackamas County.

Canby School District serves Charbonneau area south of the Willamette River.
